WestWorld is comprised of approximately 120 acres which are available for a variety of uses and events. The history of WestWorld begins in 1968, and continues through January 1997, when the City of Scottsdale reacquired the management rights and assets to the facility. Westworld continues to evolve into a world class facility. The facility has played host to some of the most important events in the Scottsdale area. These events include the Barret-Jackson Classic Car show, Arabian Horse Show and other world class organizations.
The Business Plan serves to develop the financial, operational, and strategic focus for WestWorld. It addresses many of the challenges and opportunities now facing the City as a result of assuming management responsibility and purchasing the fixed assets of WestWorld, effective January 1, 1997. Final approval of the WestWorld Business Plan was given by City of Scottsdale Council on March 16, 1998.
Westworld of Scottsdale: Significant Expansions
In the years since the Business Plan’s approval, WestWorld has undergone significant improvements and expansions. These expansions include the addition of the Tony Nelssen Equestrian Center. This climate-controlled, multi-use facility allows WestWorld to host year-round events regardless of weather conditions. As a result, these upgrades have increased the venue’s capacity and flexibility. As a result, the facility can attract national and international attention for a wide array of events. These events range from equestrian competitions and car auctions to corporate expos and community festivals.
